HRH Prince Alwaleed Al Saud Awards for Bachelor, Masters & PhD at Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter

These studentships are for citizens of countries outside the Arab world and are intended to support IAIS students visiting Arab countries in pursuit of their studies. The arrangements for support vary according to the programmes. In all cases a clear rationale must be outlined and the expected benefits detailed. One academic reference must be supplied.
- Undergraduate students at IAIS doing single or combined honours programmes may apply for funding of up to £1000 to further language or other study-related travel to the Arab world.
- Undergraduate students from other University departments who are studying modules in the Institute may apply for funding of up to £500 to further language or other study-related travel to the Arab world.
- MA Programmes in Gulf Studies; Gender & Identity in the Middle East; Islamic Studies; Middle East Studies; Middle East Policy Studies:
Students undertaking these programmes are eligible to apply for an award of up to £1,500 to enable them to spend time in an Arab country for further language studies or for collection of material relevant to their dissertations. - MRes in Middle East Studies, MRes Humanities (Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies)
Students undertaking these programmes are eligible to apply for an award of up to £1,500 to enable them to spend time in an Arab country for further language studies or for collection of material relevant to their dissertations. - Master’s students from other University departments who are studying modules in the Institute may apply for funding of up to £750 to further language or other study-related travel to the Arab world.
- IAIS PhD Programmes Awards of up to £2,000 are available to support PhD students for language study or fieldwork in an Arab country, normally in part attached to an Arab educational or research institution. Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence.
NOTE FOR ALL PROGRAMMES:
- The amounts listed are ceilings, and receipts normally need to be submitted to justify expenditure.
- The amounts listed are for full-time students only. Part-time (50%) students can apply for up to half these amounts.
FOR ALL APPLICANTS:
Students should submit:
- a completed application form which must include:
- a proposal (no more than 2 sides of an A4 sheet of paper) outlining their rationale and plans
- a proposed budget showing cost of fares, visa, tuition, accommodation
- an academic reference (letter of support) from a tutor familiar with their work.
