Systems biology is an emerging field that tries to explain complete biological systems, cells, organs, organisms. The explanatory power of systems biology lies in its ability to express quantitatively and qualitatively biological phenomena and predict system behavior and emergent properties.

Gastrin is a hormone, mainly produced by G-cells in response to food, and is constantly under feedback regulation. Gastrin activates and stimulates processes in the stomach and gut, including growth of speci¿c cells in these tissues. Wrong regulation of Gastrin can result for example in cancer tumours. The study of processes involved Gastrin can assist in a solution for many cancer types.

The PhD-school of Society and Globalisation at Roskilde University, hereby announces two PhD- scholarships to be enrolled within the PhD-programme ‘Governance, Welfare and Citizenship’. The scholarships are part of a large research project on innovation in the public sector that aims to investigate the barriers and drivers of innovation produced in and through collaboration between professionals, users, politicians and mangers engaged in the formulation of public policy and the production of public services.

The title of one scholarship is ‘Management of collaborative innovation in the public sector’ while the title of the other scholarship is ‘Studying public sector innovation in collaborative networks’.

Thames Valley University (TVU) is among just three London universities to climb 17 places or more in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008. To celebrate TVU’s performance in the RAE2008 and strengthen our research student base, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter John is pleased to announce a number of research scholarships, ranging from Art and Design to Nursing.

The scholarships will cover full UK/EU tuition fees and provide a maintenance allowance of £15,290 per annum for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
